Yeah, the WordCamp POA 2018 was outstanding, it was an edition of breaking records, and there were many! We sold all the tickets, we had 151 participants, which compared to the 106 participants of the previous edition is an increase of almost 50%! We just did not have more participants because the place could not stand more people than that. Of all the participants, 32% were women, and if we compare with the previous edition that were 12%, we had a great evolution, or would it be a female revolution? WordPress Girl Power!<\/span><\/p>\n

This year’s <\/span>organizing committee<\/span><\/a> put a lot of effort into the preparation of the event, been in contact with the WordPress Foundation for months, and in search of <\/span>sponsors<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>volunteers<\/span><\/a>, suppliers and <\/span>great content<\/span><\/a>, balancing between technical and marketing issues.<\/span><\/p>\n

In summary, all of this effort and preparation eventually surpassed the expectations of the vast majority of participants.<\/span><\/p>\n

The increase number of attendees demonstrates that the community is growing and getting more involved with the platform and the WordPress community.<\/span><\/p>\n

In this edition we could count with the support of national and international sponsors and here another record, there were 8 international sponsors who saw in the South of Brazil Community a good place to be present and to exhibit their mark!<\/span><\/p>\n

In the quest to provide high level content we rely on the help of speakers who have traveled from their cities throughout several states of the country such as S\u00e3o Paulo, Santa Catarina, Paran\u00e1 and, of course, Rio Grande do Sul.<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>program<\/span><\/a> was composed of 12 regular <\/span>sessions<\/span><\/a> and included several themes directly related to WordPress such as: development, digital marketing, systems architecture and others.<\/span><\/p>\n

The content of the lectures was recorded on video for a total of 7 hours of recorded presentations. All recordings will also be available soon on our <\/span>YouTube<\/span><\/a> channel and on <\/span>WordPress.tv.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

Besides shared knowledge, WordCamp Porto Alegre was also a moment of networking and fun, accompanied by good gastronomy!<\/span><\/p>\n

During the day, in social networks, more than 200 tweets were posted with the hashtag <\/span>#wcpoa2018<\/span><\/a>, and we had a reach of more than 12 thousand users.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the event, we asked participants to fill in the <\/span>official survey<\/span><\/a> of the Porto Alegre 2018 WordCamp. So far, 12% of the participants have already answered the evaluation, with a general grade of 4.6 to a maximum of 5 (If you have not yet evaluated, there’s still time!).<\/span><\/p>\n

Last but not least, we also need to thank with great affection the volunteers who participated in the organization and helped on the day of the event, some of them even, coming from outside Porto Alegre:<\/span><\/p>\n
